I'm going to try some long video tests, to drain my battery, D5100 brand battery first.

The most annoying thing was just before this was all solve I recharged my two batteries, so I could update firmware....

Ok, so my D5100, with non-brand patch applied. And a brand battery after 3 20 minute videos, is now shown 2/3 bars of power. And when I tried an update, it showed the low battery message.

So with brand batteries we should be safe from accidental power lose during firmware upgrade.

Now on to testing the non-brand battery.

Yes, D5100 non-brand battery, also went to 2/3 bars of power, and would not let software upgrade work. So I think we can say the battery patch is "safe".
