Hi guys.

I found Simeon's blog post about decoding the 5100 firmware update, and I was happy to confirm that it also works for the 3100 firmware update, which I am personally interested in.

I looked briefly at the insides of the camera last summer, but didn't make progress because of lack of inspiration and because it was too big an effort.

I really do have motivation to disable the silly 10 minute video clip limit however, because it is arbitrary and stupid, and stops me from using my camera in some situations where I would like to.

I'm very busy, not much free time, but I will try to participate as I can. I'm sorry to say, however, that web based forums are the absolute worst user interface possible for me, so I'd like to ask max if it would be possible to deploy some complementary thingymajig on the same server, so that the forum at the very least can be read similar to a mailing list. Ideally a two-way email gateway, but this is more difficult.

I know that this topic always comes up, and I know that everyones' views are quite polarized, not just mine. I can simply not work with web forums, and others can simply not work with email. Don't get me wrong - I absolutely do not expect the forum to be replaced, you have already established it, it works for you, and I'm the new guy.

So yeah, saying hi, and hoping that it will be possible to deploy if I find or write something that helps me participate via email instead of via web.

I'm sorry to detract you guys from more serious stuff, but I wanted to thank you for what you were doing. Thank you for picking up the customer service that was ignored and thank you for your meticulous work.
