https access

Postby max » Sun Dec 22, 2013 6:15 pm

Hi All,

The site has been migrated to its own IP address, and I've added an SSL certificate.

Please connect to the site via https://nikonhacker.com from now on. After a trial period I will switch the board to only run via https.

I also encourage you to change your password once you are using https, just for paranoia's sake.

Best,
-m

If you get a chance, please test your https access and functionality for the board and wiki at

https://nikonhacker.com

Unless I hear any objections, I will be switching the forum over to https access only.

Thanks,

I would summarize what max said: if you accessed NH from public WiFi or any public access point => better change password now and use https in future. With https all communication is encrypted from your browser software up to NH server. You can prove this by clicking "lock" in your browser on NH page and see in report "GeoTrust Global CA identificated page as nikonhacker.com". If there is a lock, but displayed information is different then you may be under man-in-the-middle attack.

Of course, no chance against goverment sniffing, because they get private keys from certification authorities directly by the law.

I've noticed that since going to https, now and then, when I arrive and there are many unread posts, I'll click on each unread section, and when I go to those tabs, I'm logged out, and have to log back in, to see unread items.

I see this at home and at work. So it might be my browser (Chrome) or the site, or some intermediate gateway. wondering if it's just me, or other see it?
