Without a "bad" battery to test against it's a little hard to know it "works" if you want to donate a battery it would help.

That's very true, how can you know anything. So I purchase my own battery from Amazon.

How ... ? I mean...

Simeon accepts to take a look (and no more than that) at an issue YOU have. And you're hesitating to spend 12.66 USD - twelve bucks - to just provide him test material.
Do you have an idea how much an hour of Simeon's time is worth in industry ? Do you have an idea how much time he already spent on this project ?

I'm speechless.

And I guess you'll want him to sign a contract so that if the battery sets your camera on fire he will buy you a new one ?

If you want durable and reliable experience, please buy genuine Nikon gear. Sorry to sound harsh, but I, for one, am not willing to spend a single minute on making your camera less reliable.

Why did you waste your time on replying to this crazy request in the first place. Those that take advantage of someone's talent should be the LAST to know if something does happen. I do have a few question for you though, is programming a more detailed version of building an html website?

Also, what is the hourly rate for a programmer that is utilizing established structure and introduces alterations?

Last, since this a features request page. I presume that bit rate would increase quality but shorten the shoot duration. I don't think I could shoot anything less than 6 minute duration though.

I personally want to thank you team for even considering a project like this, I know a lot of people really feel they are owed something or at least present it that way.

I also know that this is "in your spare time" project, but is there anything you guys need?

To educate. I was going to write a smack down reply, but that recently, and it didn't make me feel better afterwards...

well HTML is "programming" to a degree, your understanding a model of how the visual results are formed, and structuring the inputs to have the desired output effect. HTML is Duplo as normal programing is Lego, as reverse engineer firmware is an exact list of sand grains and their color and location. The puzzle is to understand what/who those 1 million gains of sand make a "real thing"

At work we hire contractor developer for $80+/hr from contracting agencies.

"established structure" like this? 9F 80 50 00 00 00 C0 11 15 01 9B 00 03 E0 9F 81 47 00 00 00

and "introduces alterations" without bricking your $500+ camera?

so far zero dollars an hour.....

yes more bits per second would reduce the length of time the same sized storage card could hold. Depending on what the true limits of file size are (file system limits verse software restrictions (aka not yet known)) the true impact of increasing bitrate (if it can be done) is unknown.

Thank you for your replies, got to say I laughed pretty hard at the comparison of Lego and HTML.

You guys are very well educated people. I appreciate the time taken to reply and the generosity for considering this project.

I'm a owner of a Nikon D3100 & wasn't prepared to pay top money for EN-EL14, i got round this using a battery grip and was able to use P7000, i was going to proceed working on the eprom which is contained in the battery, now the fw been decrypted this would be pointless.

Another feature which the D3100 has is bulb mode, this feature is meaningless without remote, yet again i got round this using same battery grip.
