D5500 Feature Requests

Postby DavidZ » Tue Sep 15, 2015 10:57 am

I did a search for D5500 and didn't come up with a single result... so here it is... any chance of D5500 hack soon?

Specifically, removing the time limit on recording would be great!

I've never "hacked" a camera before - never thought of it until I started Googling the time limit on the video. I'm sure intrigued though!

I realise that there cannot be a hack for any camera until there is a firmware update released by Nikon but I would like to add my interest in a D5500 hack whenever it might be possible.

My main interests would be removing the video time limit and multi-language (as I have a grey import with only English and Chinese) but all the features already available on other models would be good.

I hope there will come a hack for de Nikon D5500. Also for the time limit of the video function. Tomorrow i have to film myself when i'm giving a presentation and i can only film for 30 minutes and then it's not even the highest quality possible, On the highest quality it is only 20 minutes that i can record.

I will be very thankfull if there will be a hack for this.. :angelic-green:

Just a quick update to say that Nikon have just released a new firmware for the D5500, v1.01 which means that a hack could now be implemented if anybody would be willing to do so:

Wait time before patcher is updated?

Postby Duke_Sweden » Fri Jan 29, 2016 7:44 am

Hi, just wondering, not pushing you but, firmware for the D5500 was just released two days ago. I was just wondering how long the lag time is between the release of new firmware and you updating the patcher? Just tried to patch the firmware and it's not recognized so I assume it does have to be updated to recognize the new firmware.

Anyway, like I said, I'm just curious.

That really depends on what hacks are possible on the D5500, and which ones the team decide to research first.

Interesting. So it's possible there could be no hack, or a hack that doesn't necessarily give me what I'm looking for, like RAW video or higher bit rate. Since the D5500 is an improved version of the D5200 is it reasonable to expect the same hacks as is currently available in that model's hack?
Thanks for the response either way.

Hi team, can definitely confirm there are D5500 users who would love to see some tweaks/hacks.....particularly unlimited/continuous video and higher bit rate......if this could at all be managed.

None of the ARM based camera has been fully analyzed/reverse engineered.
