D3300 Interest?

Postby KalBalboa » Sat Jul 05, 2014 8:01 pm

First off, I just want to thank this community for trying to bring some very powerful options to these very capable cameras.

As you can guess by my post title, I'm wondering if the D3300 will be benefiting from any of the work made by NH anytime soon. I see 3100 and 3200 discussion, but little to no mention of the 3300. Is there a technical limitation involved with the D3300 or is it just to new/unpopular right now?

My main interest with the D3300 is improved video bitrate (up from ~24mbps at 24p and 35 mbps at 60p).

D3300 has ARM processor, D3100 and D3200 are FR80 based. These are two different hardware chips.

Does that mean custom firmwares are highly unlikely for the D3300?

I am really tired about such questions: how likely is that somebody with D3300 will join and cowork on D3300 hacks ?
Let me guess: you have no time or no qualification.

I think the main problem right now is unexistence of a firmware update.

My humble advice would be to put a really big Faq button somewhere on the home page and first one would had to be something like 'Will you hack camera model x? followed by an answer: if it has a released firmware update: maybe/yes. If it does not have an update then definetly 100% no.

Main problem is missing manpower in development. And we have no D3300.

Second problem seems to be, that developer team has to act like support team so many times. I totally agree with Wolfirrlicht. For example, the most helpful post for someone new might be the tutorial of yuridarian. This useful link can be found under Development / Firmware / No.43 (???) I think a Help+FAQ section would be the logical appendix beside Development and Discussion.

Firstly, there's a forum called Feature Requests for feature requests. No need to cross-post, either.

Secondly, the D3300 is an Expeed 4 camera built around an ARM processor. The (older) cameras that have been hacked used an FR80 processor instead. Patches of any kind for the D3300 are unlikely to arrive soon.

D3300 Feature Requests

Postby Thirdkilogram » Sun Dec 07, 2014 3:53 pm

Is anyone hearing talk or is planning to develop a firmware hack for the d3300 with raw video and higher video bitrate? Thanks!
