d5200 manual exposure

Postby castoransioso » Sat Jul 18, 2015 6:55 am

Hi... I'd like to know if this hack allows me to use manual exposure (iso/aperture/shuuter) on the d5200. I guess all of the d5100 hack features are also available for the d5200? thanks

Isn't D5200 already have manual exposure in the stock firmware? And btw, the aperture mechanism is the same as D5100 which prohibit change of aperture without moving the shutter.

even longer live view timeout for d5200?

Postby davidweb » Tue Sep 08, 2015 9:41 am

I happen to have an odd use case for my d5200

I'm interested in using it to live stream from a fixed location in my music venue.

I have it hooked up to a blackmagic capture card via HDMI.

And I bought an AC adapter that replaces the battery so it never dies during use.

So I'm probably the only person who actually hits the 3 hour timeout in the beta firmware (by selecting 15 minutes).

It works beautifully, and turns off at the 3 hour mark just as you'd expect.

Any chance I could pay you to give me a setting that is either unlimited or even just 5 hours?

thanks for figuring this out, as you've enabled a whole new scenario for this terrific camera!

So I'm really curious. Why is 64mbps the limit? Couldn't it be pushed further?

That would be great, go pros and cannons do this without dropping a frame so you can just butt the 20 minute clips together in a timeline, although if you record to an external recorder now that the hack has the liveview time extend to three hours
you should be able to record for three hours to an external hdmi recorder. I have a camranger and it actually does this and auto creates a new clip but it drops about a second or two of video before the next clip starts so its almost useless as its not continuous.
This liveview update is huge for me because I record using an ATEM switcher and I can now have the
camera stay on during an entire concert where before I had to switch it back on every 30 minutes. So now I can record for 2 hours straight through the switcher granted its only 20mbps but its good enough for what I use it for.
I am donating 10 bucks right now!! I aksed for this optiona while ago and just glanced on the site today and was so happy to see this works.
But to be able to add continuous recording as in a new file
every twenty minutes would be a killer addtion so you can record for longer periods and not miss a beat. So happy about the extended liveview though, awesome work!! I have not tried the higher bit rate yet but its been 40 minutes and my liveview
is still on YEAH BABY YEAH!

If someone can give some insight as to whether or not the European patch will harm an American version D5200 I would help out the guy above.
I was wanting to patch my D5200 as well (US made).
