Updating from 1.01 on D5100

Postby sfoley1971 » Sat Jul 01, 2017 2:24 am

This may seem a silly question but I'm really nervous about doing the patch incorrectly. My D5100 has firmware version A - 1.01, B - 1.01, C - 1.003. The current version on the Nikon website for download is 1.02. Do I need to first install that version on the camera then install the patched version or just install the patched version over top the 1.01 that's on my camera?

Has anyone updated the patch to version 1.01 that was on the camera? Just want to know if it's safe to do or should I first install the version 1.02 that's available on the Nikon site?

You can move to/from any version of the firmware (for your model) safely.

You have to run the firmware through patcher, which makes a complete install, so you just need to install that, aka no need to pre-install the base version.

Also make sure you always update from a 100% charged Nikon battery.
