Hi astronomer
Thank you for our conversations last time when I found that the Expeed applies a certain scaling factor to sensor informations before subtracting it and producing a final NEF.
However, theres are still some phenomena which are difficult for me to understand; final NEFs of D700, D800, and even D4s all have a clipping at the lowest end of the histogram.
If the offsets in D700 and D800 were subtracted in advance of NEF recording, we would not see a clipping at the centre of the Normal distribution, or the lowest end of final NEFs of D700 and D800.
In the case of final NEF of D4s as well as hacked ones of D700 and D800 by your software, a clipping is found at 0 ADU level, meaning its offset may be insufficiently high to record all the fluctuations of readout noise.
I would be very happy if you could provide me with something.
Best,
